  • In this class, students will learn the foundations of realism through hands-on practice inspired by the great masters. We’ll explore classical techniques such as shading, proportion, composition, and color mixing, while studying how artists like da Vinci and Monet observed light and form. Each week builds new skills through still life, portrait, and landscape studies. By the end, students will have developed confidence in their ability to see and paint with accuracy, depth, and expression.

  • Ms. Lan is incredibly skilled at making kids feel inspired and supported. Our son came home full of stories and joy. We’re so grateful for this experience and will recommend it to anyone who loves art and nature!

---Jessica W. Mom of 3rd grader

Miss Lan’s philosophy to art is simple.  “Everyone is a great artist!”  She gave my daughter a huge boost of confidence in creating her own artwork without worrying that her work is not “good enough”.  She loves Miss Lan's classes to sign up for more classes!

Each week, we’ll dive into hands-on activities that encourage kids to paint, collage, and build using a variety of materials — focusing on the process of making rather than the final product. Inspired by nature and the great abstract masters like Kandinsky and Monet, students will learn how to see the world in shapes, colors, and patterns, and use their imagination to transform what they observe into expressive, original art. It’s a joyful space to create, explore, and discover the endless ways art connects us to the natural world.

Students of all levels will discover beautiful, painterly techniques to bring their work to life, while younger artists often surprise us with their loose, expressive brushstrokes that capture a sense of pure magic.
